Movabletype (the software behind this blog) has just announced an extended public beta of the new Version 3.0. In addition, they have moved from a take & donate scheme to commercial licenses. Moveabletype is still free for personal use, and aparently they are committed to keeping it that way. But for anything more than a single blog, licenses start at $US69.95, and at this stage, that's more than I'm willing to pay. This wouldn't be such a problem for me, if I wasn't also hosting Movabletype as a free service for a few friends. No-one is forcing me to upgrade, but if the new version is tempting enough (which it will be, I'm a sucker for new features), maybe I'll just have to bite the bullet and pay up.
